Green is soothing

Someone once told me, if you stare afar at the hills your eyesight might just improve and glasses can be thrown to the bottom drawer and saved for when you're really old. The trick is to stare until your eyes water.

I took a walk in the garden when I was last back home and realised, plants have a calming effect. You're so busy trying to figure out the names you forget what your worries are. It's possibly equivalent to prozac. Ye-e-s!

I love your blog! Look at those beautiful things! What in the heck ARE they? The look both edible and functional!

Is it difficult to grow them? I've seen these plants being sold in "hanging pots" but I'm not too sure if they can survive in my tiny apt.

gnightgirl: They're neither functional or edible:) Okay so maybe I'm not 100% on the latter bit. It's growing in my mum's garden and she's mighty proud of it. Day 4 of the holiday season was spent in her garden. It's called "pitcher plant" or "periuk kera". ( NZA has beat me to it..)

Lasez: I 'll get back to you on degree of difficulty. ( pssst I don't think it's that hard )

I confirm: pitcher plant. And it is indeed carnivorous, if you're a VERY stupid fly.

Nope, doesn't work. Have been staring at green plants, green fields, green frogs, green everything all my life and I am still stuck with my glasses! Something to do with me still studying at an age where most people will resting on their (green) laurels. Sigh!

aunty marianne: remind me to take a peek IN the plant when next I visit home.

Jimbo: People believe anything:) I'm one of them believing souls.

Edina, if you're peeking in that plant, don't get too close. Sounds like it might eat you.

I've heard that "stare at green and throw you glasses away" comment too... dunno if it really works!

kurios: it doesn't work. Anecdotal stories aren't good enough. Evidence base medicine....that's the buzz phrase these days:) And so NO the answer has to be NO WAY does it work. Pssst, although wouldn't it be wonderful if it did work?
