I need new frames..( soon)

One sunny afternoon
What is the lifespan of a spectacle frame? 1 year, 4 years, 10 years? The shops I've visited have been universal in saying " yes you can change your lenses and keep your original frame, but I'm afraid we cannot be held responsible should these frames break in the process". I ask myself, why would they break? Is the process of putting the new lenses in a brutal one? And so now, I'm looking for new frames and new lenses. It's going to be a long process as I'm a creature of habit and I'm looking and hoping for one eggsactly the same as what I currently wear.

World Tuberculosis Day

Three scenarios seen not infrequently in clinic: a 16-year old girl with a 3-month history of painless left lump at the right side of her neck gets an FNAC done and the report shows granulomatous changes suggstive of tuberculosis. A 23 -ear old man with a 4-month history of unresolving cough despite 2-3 courses of antibiotics presents for further investigation. Chest radiograph showed mild left sided pleural effusion. Sputum AFB direct smear was positive. A 68-year old lady with multiple comorbidities presents with cough for a few weeks, chest radiograph revealed opacities in the right upper zone. Sputum for AFB was negative.

Three very different scenarios above refutes  the opinion that  tuberculosis presents with typical symptoms and affects the  immunocompromised, the immigrant population and the elderly whilst sparing the healthier group of folks

Today is World TB day so I would like to wish for better Tuberculosis care in my own hospital and on a wider scope ...in my country. Let us fight Tuberculosis together.

Fish porridge

This picture was taken at Kluang food station at Ikano.

Passat

The volkswagen passat is a family car. Heck the Golf is also ( according to AJ) marketed as a family car. But look at the side profile of it here and tell me what you think? Me? I drove it last Saturday and found it a little bit under powered. We had four in the car. True it was smooth ( hey hey it's a new car after all) and the boot was big ( you could easily fit 5 of me inside in a tight squeeze) but I would choose the Golf over this. Definitely!

Kim Gary Nissin Noodle soup

They have very honest folks working here. How do I know this? I once ( yes yes) left my ipad here after a meal ...and they kept it at the cashier under lock and key for me to return to collect it. Here is my bowl of nissin noodles. The bits leftover at the side of the bowl are taugehs. They were generous with them. For those of you who may not have been exposed to nissin noodles before...( and also because this picture shows no such noodle in sight) I shall tell you they are exactly like instand noodles. Springy in texture and only really nice when slurped with some delicious MSG laden soup.

Dinner is served

Japanese curry
If you're wondering why this looks different it is simply because this is Japanese curry which according to WNN tastes like curry from supermac in Ireland:)
Here we go again...

Tuesday

Yesterday was a busy and tiring day for my legs and I. I have great sympathy ( after yesterday) for those poor salesgirls standing for a good part of their working day. I stood from 10:00am to 6:00pm with walking involved and when I eventually got home my legs were crying, The picture depicts how Monday was for me.....a bit mushy....not quite tasty....and you wish you had a better meal after eating it.

COPD update

It was very refreshing to attend a talk teaching basics and building up in an interactive way.

VIolin practice

A spot of practice this Saturday morning ...before heading out

Kiki

A sensible thing

I seriously think sugar takes away someof the taste. But when I started out drinking it without sugar, it was motivated by money. Wanted to save on Sugar. ( Back in the dark ages as a poor student) ....the habit has stuck. And I've come to enjoy the taste of coffee more this way

13th March

Marshmellow
KN celebrates her 40th birthday today. May God bless her and keep her safe. We had an early celebration last Saturday. Oh boy was it nice:) We had the loke loke van parked in front of the house and we had orange themed canopy and balloons. Met new friends and had a good time talking with the help of some good champagne until late into the night.
Double chocolate
I could do with a piece of chocolate cake right now...midweek de-stressor:)

Xiang Ding Wei

The chillie was delicious. Almost good enough to eat on its own
We went to Sg Wang Plaza (again) this weekend. This time we mustered enough energy to get to the 5th floor to have some tasty ( and interesting) Taiwanese food. This was our second visit. And the place was packed within ten minutes of our being ushed to our seats. Everyone else looked like they knew what to order. So did we....
What we ate
The parents opted for something very much like what they had the last time. They both insisted I have another dish rather than the noodles.

Tried and tested favourite
One of the parents had this.
The jasmine tea had little weeny jelly bits
The other parent slurped his way through some jasmine jello bits
The set dish
The set dish was very filling.
Lovely taiwanese food for a VERY fair price
And so for those of you interested in trying out some Taiwanese food and you would like to have it at a place with some atmosphere....head to Sg Wang Plaza....located on the same floor as the computers. (except there aren't many pc shops left currently).

Lace themed dresses

Woot! Look what I bought this afternoon at the local departmental store....a lace dress by Cape Cod. Oddly enough this was found in the men's department. Sometimes the stores mess things up like so I'm sure. The dress looks better on me than on the hanger. A definite reason to buy it. I was inspired by the many lace dresses worn by the Duchess of Cambridge. This is a picture of her an Erdem navy lacey dress worn during her tour of Canada in 2011.

Kenanga wholesale Mall

Some shirts for sale
After suffering at the hands of a wanna-be-stylist at Sg Wang I caved in and headed for Kenanga Wholesale City Mall this afternoon after making an appointment with my original stylist R who was moved there a few months back. I love the parking lot. It was airy and apart from the rather long journey up to the 8th floor before you arrive at the parking lots, the whole entire parking experience was enjoyable. ( And it was free!!)
The models were a little scary
The floors were well organized and divided into sections. Here is the a shot of the muslim wear floor.
Hmmm
There were a few empty shops...and this was the sign we see.

Smoking section of the food court.
The food court looked clean and spacious. And the smoking area had a lovely uninterrupted view of KL the parts you don't usually see. I popped out here to take a panaromic shot. Nobody was smoking at the time. I think the folks just wanted to enjoy the view. Will I return? Yes...for my haircut...and I'ld spend some time browsing. Today's visit was mainly for the hair

What I want for lunch today...

Rain rain rain rain rain

I hope it doesn't rain this evening!!! Fingers's crossed!!!

Lent

Kinokuniya at SUria KLCC
We're into the second week of Lent. Easter weekend is the 8th of April. Until which time, as part of the preparation of soul for celebration of Easter proper, we're not just meant to practice moderation but to grow spiritually closer to God. The materialistic aspect of moderation means no books usually for me. But as my resolution not to buy books came before Lent...so I've added some more to the list of penitential preparation. ( of a more spiritual nature )
A random shot ...shopping spree circa 2011
And when you forbid yourself from spending money on clothes, tis is when just about everything looks good and shouts out to you to buy it/them.

Sudden craving

What I would really like...this wet wet wet Wednesday night...is a Banoffee pie and hot coffee with milk. Best Banoffee pie to be found at Delicious. My last pie was marred by the slow service. Haven't been back since.

Where you are pippa?

One of the last few sightings of Pippa Middleton, younger sister of the Duchess of Cambridge. Pippa is seen at the door of her "office" and the paparazzi get a good view of her rear. I'm sure the British public are missing the daily pictures of Pippa walking to and fro from work. No more Modalu sightings with skin tight jeans and other fashion accessories. There's truthfully not much of a bum on Pippa's body but hey whatever makes you happy. If you're convinced she does indeed have one...just think "emperor's clothes"!! Enough said. I miss Pippa!

Smurf Village update

Level 35 finally....(after simply ages)
I'm still loyal to Smurf village. How can you be otherwise when the updates give you something exciting this time around? Plus I now have more than a handful of friends and so can expect gifts on a more regular basis. ( I hope!)
With the SS Smurf...you travel to a new island.
If you have sent dreamy smurf out and he's come back, this means you can now explore a whole new island. The flowers you plant there are bigger. Still can't get used to the size. And you can send a smurf out on a raft and see what he brings back. Am working hard planting and harvesting cos I spent a whole lot of money on those squirrels a while back.

Happy Birthday AJ

It's nice to have a friend at work. Most of us can boast of a real friend. We went to primary school together...and now we're working in the same workplace with similar career paths. How wonderful is that? Pretty darn wonderful let me tell you. So I'm wishing my childhood friend a very blessed birthday and May God less you with everything lovely always....because you deserve it.

LImited edition

Spotted
Despite my very noble thoughts ...I succumbed to temptation and bought my 8th Longchamp bag.
Looks better at home yah?

Can't wait to parade it at work tomorrow. Althought the background looks white in the picture it's actually a very light shade of pastel pink. And part of the pink flowers curl to the back of the bag. Love it love it...

I will however save the bag for Easter Sunday!!!

Bee Hoon

Fried vermicelli. Yes all posh and  expensive when you say that instead of plain ole bee hoon. Have you ever noticed Bee Hoon packed like so taste nicer than on a plate sometimes? I wouldn't mind one right now. Am alternating between harvesting and practising the violin this afternoon. Multitasking works up quite a appetitie. Growl!

Have you watched Tintin?

Long before Tintin got all famous in Malaysia ( thanks to the animated movie out recently and watched by many I'm sure) my brother was a great fan of Captain Haddock. I read all of the comics and liked only a few. The brother on the other hand was ( in retrospect unhealthily ) obsessed with Haddock to the point of adapting " blistering barnacles" to most things . And also to wearing a cap wherever ( except for school) I think if memories serves me right, he had a spell of wearing his cap to bed as well. I watched Tintin on China airlines. Enjoyed it very very much.

Fake Longchamp bags...spoilt for choice

Any colour you want...
I must admit, some of the fake colours would look good with some of my dresses.
The real Longchamp shop
And so here we have a more subdued shop....with less colours....but a whole different buying experience.

Coffee

with bubbles

with ice cubes

with design...and some froth
Please let me know..how you would like your coffee...
